plant tissue and cell culture research department
In the past three decades, tissue and cell culture technology and micropropagation have made significant contributions to the development of agriculture through the production of healthy and original plant materials. Using this technology, healthy, original, and uniform plants/seedlings can be produced for the development and renewal of commercial farms/orchards, thereby increasing productivity per unit area. On the other hand, hard-to-reproduce and endangered species are revived and preserved with this technology. The ability to produce doubled haploid lines (100% genetically pure) to accelerate breeding programs and create hybrid seeds for various plants is another advantage of this technology. The Institute's Tissue and Cell Culture Research Department is active in three areas: micropropagation, sanitation, doubled haploidy, and reverse breeding.
