     Intellectual Property Commercialization Round Table with the Representatives of the World Intellectual Property Organization at the Agricultural Biotechnology Research Institute of Iran, December11, 2017.

     A round table entitled "Commercialization of Intellectual Property: Towards a Successful Road Map at the Agricultural Biotechnology Research Institute of Iran" held on Monday, December11, 2017, with the participation of the representatives of the World Intellectual Property Organization and a team of ABRIIs’ faculty members.

     According to a report from the Public Relations Office of ABRII, a delegation of 3 representatives from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), under the EIE Project, visited Iran in order to hold related training workshops. Moreover, the WIPO’s representatives visited knowledge and technology based institutes and centers. In this regard, Dr. John Frazer, attended the ABRIIs’ round table and presented his lecture entitled “Enabling Intellectual Property Environment Project and Its Key Elements."

     In addition to Dr. John Fraser's speech, the round table also addressed the following topics: “Managing Research Projects at ABRII: Organization, Process and Needs” by Dr. Seyed Ghasem Hosseini, Deputy Director General for Research; “Technology Management at ABRII” and “ABRII’s Marketable Technologies” by Dr. Pejman Azadi, Deputy Director General for Technology; “IP and Technology Transfer Management at ABRII: Organization, Process and Needs” by Dr. Mohammad-Reza Parvin, Head of IP & TT Office (facilitator of the round table), and "Challenges and Problems of mass production of algal biomass for formulation of functional cosmetics and pharma supplements “by Dr. Mohammad Amin Hejazi, Head of Northwest and West Regional Branch of ABRII.

     The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), is an international organization designed to promote the worldwide protection of both industrial property (inventions, trademarks, and designs) and copyrighted materials (literary, musical, photographic, and other artistic works). The organization, established by a convention signed in Stockholm in 1967, began operations in 1970 and became a specialized agency of the United Nations in December 1974. It is headquartered in Geneva.
