Dr. Johan Van Huylenbroeck, from the Institute for Agricultural and Fisheries Research (ILVO), Belgium; Dr. Rodrigo Barbara Gonzalez, Chair of Workgroup New Ornamentals, Section of Ornamental Plants, International Society for Horticultural Science; and Pablo Morales, a PhD student from Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile, visited ABRII before setting off to Ramsar to present their articles in the International Symposium on Wild Flowers and Native Ornamental Plants.

     Dr. Pejman Azadi, Deputy Director General for Technology of ABRII declared that the institute’s activities were estimated above the visitors’ expectations. He also hoped that more collaboration would occur in ornamental plants area with Belgium, Mexico and Chile in the future.

     He asserted that the International Symposium on Wild Flowers and Native Ornamental Plants was the greatest scientific event in Iran for ornamental plants in which scientists from 12 countries around the world were attending. The purpose of the symposium was to expand national and international researchers’ collaboration as well as transferring other countries’ experiences in utilizing local genetic resources in breeding and commercializing ornamental plants and flowers to our country.
